Speed Racer | Fueled my Early Car Obsession
Racer X of Speed Racer | Origins
A video showing Speed Racer & Racer X’s origins popped up on my Youtube feed the other day. It has been decades since Ive seen the show.
It got me thinking about how that show fed my early car obsession and how I wanted to be Speed Racer. Or even better yet, the more mysterious Racer X! Either way, I wanted to race cars very early in life.
For those that may not know, Speed Racer (Mach GoGoGo), a Japanese anime tv show in the late 60’s featured a young driver, Speed Racer, who aspires to be champion of the racing world with the help of his family and his Mach 5 car. Part race car, part James Bond trickery car.
But Racer X, who I pulled for never won and that didnt sit well with me. I later learned that he was Speed Racers brother and he was trying to help Speed win. Which did appeal to the side of me that liked integrity. Yes even as a kid.
So, it got me thinking about this.
Who did you route for more? Speed Racer or Racer X?
Or do people even know who they are in this day and age?
I posted an Instagram survey to see what people say about this.
Im curious what the numbers will be.
And was anyone attracted to Trixie at an early age?
