My Car connection with Jerry Horton of Papa Roach
Jerry Horton, Papa Roach, Rays Hotrods, Rob Ida, car guy, guitar player, rock music, rock star
Cars and Music go hand in hand with each other. It can be the soundtrack of car activities, a song written about a car or listened to when cruising.
Its not a surprise that the car bug afflicts Musicians as well.
One of those with this need is my buddy Jerry Horton, lead guitarist of Papa Roach.
Jerry and I met through his Car venture called ” Drive Kulture”.
As he explains it “Nobody in Papa Roach is really into cars as much as I am.
Drive Kulture is a way to connect with my car buddies while out on the road.”
Having two very busy schedules doesn’t leave a lot of time to catch up with Jerry.
We did get to spend a day walking around drooling over the cars at the Sema Show in 2018.
And I was off when Papa Roach rolled into Philly for a concert and also a day off in between shows.
I dont get to shoot bands often enough. As an ex-musician it still is one of my favorite things to shoot.
Whether thru shooting photos or with my Jibs. Music still rules my life. Cars a very close second.
Trying to capture the emotion and energy of live music is almost like playing music for me.
Jerry generously hooked me up with a Photo Pass at the show in Philly. These images are just part of the thousand or so I shot that night.
Also another hundred or so of the bands Bad Wolves & Asking Alexandria.
You have the first 3 songs to get your images then the camera goes away. The good part is I then get to sit back and fully enjoy the bands.
The next day after the Philly show I took Jerry around to a few of the areas coolest car places.
The shops of Ida Automotive and Ray’s Hotrod. Two of central NJ’s awesome hotrod and custom car facilities.
You can go to Jerry’s and Rob Ida’s Instagram pages to see some highlights from that day:
Stay tuned here for more with Jerry Horton. I shot an interview with him awhile back.
Just waiting on his Merc to be done so we can go back and shoot the final footage for it.
Thanks Jerry! Always great to hang with you.
