Hooning at the Sema Burnyard
The Hoonigans brought their “Burnyard” to the Sema Show for a second year. I wasnt able to see any of the shows last year with other Sema commitments. But this year I made it a point to see a show or two and it did not disappoint.
Of course I could have also name this story the day I finally lost my hearing because there were several cars there that were unbelievably loud. Especially Spike Chen’s 600HP 240Sx with its ear splitting super charged LS and its deafening exhaust back fires. Which he was able to make a rhythm with at times. Next time I will remember to bring my ear plugs. Still music to the ears though.
Spike Chen’s Edelbrock EForce Supercharged 240SX just screams with its high winding horsepower 4.8 Iron Block. Built as an inexpensive build to show what you can do with basic off the shelf parts.
Cloud maker Peter Chrisikopoulos pretty much blocked out the sun at the Sema Burnyard for a bit. His 8500 rpm 4th gear tire shredding run in his 240SX blew apart his tires. But first he melted them into giant pillows of smoke.
Going, going, gone. Peter Chrisikopoulos does his best Vegas magic trick disappearing in his tire smoke at the Hoonigan Sema Burnyard
In this series of photos you can watch Peter Chrisikopoulos’ Freedom Motorsportz prepped car blow apart his tires to the cheers of the Burnyard crowd.
The Hoonigan Burnyard clean up crew had there hands full during Sema.
Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy- burn burn burn. I remember seeing a lot of these Ute’s in Australia during the 2000 Olympics. But nothing like Josh Robinson’s Holden Ute. 1000 HP Super charged V8, carbon fiber body. This thing screams.
Formula Drift driver Ryan Litteral in his Power Stop Brakes Nissan.
Brian Nimmo.. the Drift Slayer.. put on a good show in his ’05 Toyota Tacoma Xrunner.
Is it me or did the clown seem to enjoy that too?
Tandem Drifting within the fairly small Burnyard area at Sema showed excellent car control.
Damage was high in the Burnyard whether it be tires or parts. One drivers motor got so hot it lit his air cleaner on fire.
The Burnyard was a lot of fun. Rumor has it that the Hoonigans might be taking their Burnyard on the road next year.
Definitely worth checking out.
